Easter Weekend in Auckland

There’s no denying that Easter is one of the best holidays on the calendar!

Not only do you get a phenomenal four-day weekend to spend doing whatever you please, but it’s completely acceptable to indulge in rich chocolate and buttery hot cross buns for those four days AND the weeks leading up to and following Easter weekend.

And while treating yourself is all well and good, you might want to seek a bit more balance (and burn a few more calories) by getting out and about and experiencing what the city of Auckland has to offer over Easter weekend. There are dozens of things to do in Auckland over Easter 2023, so we’ve summarised the best ones in the following handy list.

Shop the Easter Night Market

The Easter Night Market on Thursday the 6th of April is the perfect way to kick off your long weekend. Stroll around the stalls and food trucks at Victoria Park in Freeman’s Bay, grab yourself a spicy empanada or pick up some handmade jewellery that catches your eye. There will be dozens of stalls to explore and the live music by Lights on Project will add to the electric atmosphere.

Sing along with Rod Stewart

The legendary Sir Rod Stewart is set to rock Spark Arena on Easter Sunday – the 9th of April. And if that wasn’t already exciting enough, Cindy Lauper will be joining him! This is guaranteed to be a night of fun, dancing and stretching those vocal cords. And if you’re staying with us here at Auckland Rose Park Hotel in Parnell, Spark Arena is just a 15-20 minute walk away!

On Saturday the 8th of April, hundreds will flock up to beautiful Matakana for the Beer and Food Festival. There will be many beers to sample, some incredible food trucks and a great line-up of live music acts to keep you entertained from 2 until 10pm. If the weather looks good, why not get a group of friends together and book yourselves a private shuttle? That way you can enjoy everything the festival has to offer.
